Paul Sabourin

Paul graduated from the University of Toronto in 1975 with a B.A., and the University
of Western Ontario in 1980 with an M.B.A. He joined Burns Fry Ltd. in 1982 as a research
analyst focusing on small cap stocks. In 1983 he moved to the institutional trading area, and
worked in a number of areas including preferred shares, convertible bonds, risk arbitrage and
liability trading.
In 1987, Paul became a director of Burns Fry, and later was responsible for managing the
institutional trading area. In 1988, Paul became a member of the Executive Committee.
Paul was a founding partner of Polar Securities in 1991, and has been the firm's Chief
Investment Officer since its inception. At various times over the past 14 years, Paul has
traded or managed most of the strategies currently deployed by Polar. Paul is an active
member of a number of industry associations and community charitable organizations.
In January 2006, Paul stepped down as Polar's Chief Executive Officer to resume a very
active role as portfolio manager of a substantial portion of the North Pole fund.
